Bomb Threat Leads To Evacuation Of Area High School

A written statement about a bomb threat  located inside a bathroom forced the evacuation of an area high school.

The Town of Hyde Park Police received the report of the threat made at Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School On Friday, March 6.

The Hyde Park Police Department school resource officer immediately began working with the FDR staff to investigate the threat. 

A joint decision was made to evacuate the building and send the students home early. 

The Hyde Park Police Department requested assistance from the Dutchess County Sheriffs Office K-9 Division along with Bomb detection dogs from the New York State Police, City of Poughkeepsie, and Metro North Police Departments. 

The building was searched by the highly trained Police K-9 officers and the building was released to the school district at approximately 3:30 pm.

Police are not releasing additional information regarding what is still an active investigation.

The Hyde Park Police Department will be adding extra officers to the school to assist with the investigation.
